Faithful Through Spell and Fire
A Short Poem About Daniel Chapter 3
I’ve been doing a bit of poetry lately, and here is my latest short poem, a sonnet based on Daniel Chapter 3:
The splendor of an image made of gold The tidal force of every bended knee The legal grip of kings who've cast a mold The sound of lyres plucked by kings decree The music courses like the sea tide rip and headless men shall bend immediately No whispered grip or protest by the lip for brick by brick is by conformity I see, though, through the sea a cord of three Unmoved by spell and fire, a strand holds fast They stand alone, but four I now can see Amidst the blaze, three bricks it cannot cast "Come out, you three, and tell me this design!" "The Triune God by fire will refine" -- Daniel Mayfield, 2026
